Janice "Pat" Edwards Ross, M.D.

Dr. Ross was born on November 19, 1946, in Camden, SC.  She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. In Biology in 1968, at which time she went on to the Medical University of South Carolina, but transferred to the SUNY Upstate Medical Center of Syracuse, NY in 1970.  She received her Medical Degree in 1972 and spent the following two years there as a Resident in Anatomic Pathology.  The next two years she was in Residency for Clinical Pathology at the Center, and from July 1975 to June 1976 was Chief Resident, Clinical Pathology.  Dr. Ross was Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in 1976, and received her certification in Forensic Pathology in 1985.

From July 1976 to September 1977 Dr. Ross served as Assistant Pathologist for the Cayuga County Laboratory, and was a Coroner's Physician from 1976 to 1990 for Cayuga, Oswego, Cortland, Tompkins, and Seneca Counties.  From 1977 to April 2000 she was the director of the Cayuga County Laboratory.  She was part-time Assistant Medical Examiner for Onondaga County from 1985 to July 1999, and was Acting Chief Medical Examiner for the same county from November 1993 to June 1994.  Dr. Ross served as Cayuga County Coroner for three terms, from 1990 to April 2000.  She took the position of Associate Forensic Pathologist for Newberry Pathology Associates in May 2000, and is a member of the Disaster Mortuary Team (DMORT), which served at the TWA 800 crash and the North Carolina Flooded Cemetery.
